Time to say Goodbye..

That is my last post from Nyack, NY where Ispent 10 amazing months. I will never forget this time and I has affected me - probably forever..

I enjoyed my last two weeks with my great hostfamily and my two host sisters in the field club in the pool or with my friends hanging in the mall or outside.

Last week, I spent the afternoon with my two friends Thomas and Sam after we finished the Algebra Exam in the morning. Spontaneoulsy, we decided to go over to Tristan’s house because hye has a big pool in his yard..

We arrived at his house and out of the sudden, 15 of my friends surprised me. The had thrown me a Farewell Party !! We had such a good time and literally spent 3 hours in the Jacuzzi. Tristan prepared a little Barbecue with Hamburger, Hot Dogs and Oreo and everything was just perfect.

At the same Weekend, Maggie Roxane and I went to the Wicked Musical performance to which I got tickets to my birthday. Kelly drove us quick into the city and we saw a great performance, especially the cast of Elphaba was great !

At the same night, we were invited to our friend’s pool party. This would be also the last time I would see them and their huge house ( has a waterfall in their front yard..) . We had spent one week skiing with them in Lake Tahoe earlier this year..

The days went by and I had to get used to the idea, soon I would not be here any more. I made me very sad, but I tried to be positive and listen to the motto : You ll always see somebody twice ;)

Thursday Night 6/20 - the Night of Graduation, the Night I would see all my friends for the last time And the Night before my parents would arrive.

I met my friends at the Old High School’s field where the graduation of the Senior Class 12/13 took place. Some of my friends were in the orchestra and were dressed up, i expected Machli and Sarah - my two bestie’s - in the crowd. We all were in a kind of depressed mood til Sarah gave me the lyrics to a song, she wrote just for me. Then it began, we all cried.

After the very exciting graduation ceremony, we ran onto the field to say good bye to our Senior friends, and me to all other people I met this year..

We all cried our eyes out, and I even made Thomas cry. But it’s not a good-bye for forever. I am positive we will all see each other one day and laugh out loud about our time together and our inappropriate jokes and the experiences we shared..

The next day, I got up early, and went to the Upper East Side with Kelly and we had breakfast there. After that, we headed to JFK Airport to pick up my parents who came from their last destination Singarpur from their world tour.

My host family finally got to know my parents, and we all had a great time trying to overcome the language problem which was not too bad ;) Sunday, we drove to the Mohonk House in Upstate New York and visited this great place.

Monday then, was the final day to say good bye to my beloved host family. After some tears, my host sisters had to leave for swim practice but we hugged as long as possible.. I will miss them like crazy!

Especially now, I am kind of a only child (my sister studies in germany and is not around) and have to deal just with my parents and no siblings with me around. That will / can be a new challenge.

But it is how it is and I will try to make the best out of it, even though it is a huge change from Nyack to Munich, High School to Maechenschule, american friends to german friend, english to german, being a big sister to being the small sister..

Love

Marie
